In Traviss's novels, being Mandalorian means following the Resol'nare, six core tenets:

Who Created Mando'a?
Karen Traviss developed Mando'a for her Star Wars: Republic Commando novels, beginning with Hard Contact (2004). She created vocabulary, grammar, and cultural idioms, with musician Jesse Harlin also contributing Mando'a lyrics for game music.
