Small Text Generator — Tiny Text, Small Caps & Superscript (ᴄᴏᴘʏ ᴀɴᴅ ᴘᴀꜱᴛᴇ)

Turn normal text into small text you can copy and paste anywhere: small caps (ʜᴇʟʟᴏ), superscript tiny text (ʰᵉˡˡᵒ) and subscript (ₕₑₗₗₒ). Uses real Unicode characters, so the small font works in Instagram bios, TikTok, Discord, X (Twitter) usernames and games without installing anything. You can also paste small text back in to convert it to normal letters.

What Is Small Text?

Small text (also called tiny text or a small font) is ordinary writing rebuilt from special Unicode characters that look like shrunken letters: ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ, ˢᵘᵖᵉʳˢᶜʳⁱᵖᵗ and subscript such as ₕₑₗₗₒ. These are real characters rather than a font setting, so they keep their look when you copy and paste them into places that don't let you change the font.

That's why small text is popular in Instagram and TikTok bios, Discord nicknames, X (Twitter) display names, gaming tags and chat messages. It can make a caption look understated, add a quiet aside, or give a username a clean, minimal feel.

Small Caps, Superscript and Subscript

The generator draws on three different Unicode sources. Small caps come from the IPA Extensions, Phonetic Extensions and Latin Extended-D blocks, where linguists needed capital-shaped letters at lowercase height. Superscript letters are "modifier letters" used in phonetics to mark sounds like aspiration (ʰ), plus the superscript digits from mathematics. Subscript characters come from chemistry and maths notation, such as the 2 in H₂O.

Because each set was added for a different purpose, none of them covers the full alphabet perfectly. There is no small capital X, and the small capital Q (ꞯ) only arrived in 2018 and is missing from most fonts, so small caps use the look-alikes x and ǫ instead. Subscript only exists for some letters (a, e, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, r, s, t, u, v and x), so other letters stay at normal size.

Where Small Text Works

Small caps display almost everywhere: Instagram, TikTok, Discord, X, Facebook, WhatsApp, Reddit and most games that accept Unicode names. Superscript letters are also widely supported, though the superscript q (𐞥) is a recent addition to Unicode and may show as an empty box on older phones.

Screen readers may read small text letter by letter or skip characters, so keep important information such as links, prices or contact details in normal text. Search engines also treat these characters as different letters, so small text in a username won't match a normal search for the same word.

How This Small Text Generator Works

The generator swaps each letter for its small caps equivalent from a fixed Unicode table, so the same input always gives the same output. Capital and lowercase letters both become small caps, and spaces, punctuation, emoji and other characters you type are left as they are.

It also works in reverse: paste small caps, superscript or subscript text and it converts back to plain lowercase letters. The same conversion is available through the Fun Translations API for apps and bots. ᴛʜᴀɴᴋꜱ ꜰᴏʀ ʀᴇᴀᴅɪɴɢ!
